Damaris Scott is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who started working in mental health, substance abuse and elderly communities since 2001. In 2004, she transitioned to child protection services for the State of CT Department of Children and Families, working there for approximately 15 years. As a case manager, Damaris provided support to families in many walks of life. In her work in investigations, treatment, permanency (termination of parental rights, adoption), she quickly learned the many ways the trauma of substance abuse, poverty, mental health, physical, sexual, and moral abuse, as well as neglect had strong negative impact on families. This experience is what drove Damaris to have a passion and drive to help parents heal from trauma. Once she was licensed , she started to work with children and families in the community by providing in-home family support by means of therapy, crisis intervention in various settings.
Currently, Damaris is working with adults in helping them heal from their trauma, and she is pursuing her post master’s certification in trauma studies. Her focus is using trauma informed care in working with adults, with evidence based practices of CBT, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, and Mindfulness. While she is currently settled in GA. Damaris is licensed in CT, GA and TN where she pursues her love of helping others heal.
