ABOUT US

Bryan G. Stephens

I started TalkForward Counseling to help people like you unlock a mindfulness about your future. So much of what we do is operate automatically with the ways of the past. I want to help you become aware of your unconscious thoughts and feelings that drive you. This mindfulness allows you the power of choice. You can then move forward with more intentionality, and more purpose. I want to help you examine your life and make changes from the tools of the past, to become your best self.
I believe that you can better face the challenges of your life through increased awareness and understanding of yourself and the forces that drive you. You blaze your own path to this awareness. Do not be surprised if what first brought you to therapy is not what you end up working on to achieve our goals.

Training and Approach

Bryan G. Stephens, MA, MBA, CPCS, NCC, LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have practiced in behavioral health for over 30 years and I have been licensed as an LPC since 2000. I am trained clinical supervisor and began training therapists in small and large groups, since I became a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) in 2011.

I am active in my profession, serving on the Board of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCA) as Ethics Chair in 2012, and I served as President of that organization from 2021-2024.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in 1992 from Florida Tech, and my Master of Arts in Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in 1996. I started as a case manager before becoming a therapist, working in community behavioral health, where I practiced as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of other therapists, case managers, nurses, and doctors. It was in this environment where I learned to treat the large variety of issues brought to our clinic by a diverse population. I have used that expertise in both my personal practice and to develop clinical programs for clinics and treatment centers. On Thursdays I have office hours at Psych Atlanta in their Marietta Office.

I also earned my Executive MBA from Kennesaw State University in 2006 which aided me in my 20 years of Executive Management, where I served as a Chief Executive Officer in a public behavioral health agency, with over 450 employees and an annual budget of $27 million. There I established and executed major goals and objectives, providing leadership, direction, and guidance for agency activities.
My primary approach is a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy informed by interpersonal theory. I use styles and techniques that match the needs of the client based on my years of practice.
